IFSSA, IFFSA, or IFSA? We know that it is sometimes difficult to find us online. Over the past years, you may have noticed that we have been referring to our organization as “IslamicFamily” instead of “IFSSA” - and this shift has been intentional. We want to make it easier for our community to find us, which is why we are retiring our acronym to be now known as “IslamicFamily”.
With a new name, comes a new logo. We have worked with local artists on developing this new logo mark, which holds several symbols.
The pinecone fragments come together in an octagonal star that draws on the beauty of Islamic art and geometry to form a tightly-knit community that embraces the pine tree.
And while each pine tree stands majestically on its own, we remember that the pine tree is part of a forest that respects and admires each of its members. Similarly, we honour and respect each one of our clients as an individual and as a member of the entire community.
Rooted on Treaty 6, we learn from the rich traditions of the Indigenous Peoples of the land we have settled on. In our visual identity, we wanted to show our respect and admiration for Indigenous traditions and resilience. The shape of the pine tree resembles the star blanket, a symbol of protection and prosperity that we strive to relay to all we serve.
We are so excited for our new chapter as IslamicFamily and can’t wait to continue serving our community for many more years to come.
